The Magic of Memories: Supporting Alzheimer's Research and Mental Health Awareness

As the clock ticks away, memories fade, but the impact of Alzheimer's disease is far from forgotten. Currently, 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and by 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 14 million. It is crucial that we come together as a community to support those affected by this devastating disease.

The Louisiana Alzheimer's Association and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are two organizations dedicated to improving the behavioral health of our citizens. According to Cindy Quigley, Lakeview Regional Sales Director of Behavioral Health, 'The mental health of our community is of utmost importance, so being able to support these organizations with funds from this event works directly towards our mission.'

On Saturday, April 28th, the Lakeview Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary will host its fourth annual car show, aptly named 'The Magic of Memories' Street Rod, Classic Car & Motorcycle Rally. The event will take place on the hospital campus at 95 Judge Tanner Blvd., Covington, from 8:30 a.m.

In addition to admiring some truly unique vehicles, attendees can enjoy music, food, and a 50/50 drawing while supporting two vital causes. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Louisiana Alzheimer's Association and NAMI. For the kids, there will be inflatables and jump houses available at no charge, making it an enjoyable outing for the whole family.

As Alisha Kennedy, LRMC Volunteer Coordinator, emphasizes, 'This event continues to grow each year, enabling us to support more community organizations, and having a great time doing it.' With every passing year, the impact of this event grows, and so does our ability to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's.
